Griff 4.5BV value

Due to potential changes in circumstances I may be selling my Griff. It's a rare factory built 4.5BV version, with history and original sales receipt to prove. What's it worth?

Its in mint condition, 1992 and with 45k miles on it. Upgrades include Act Carbon triple plenum and Nitron shocks. It's been recently serviced, has fully leather interior and is absolutely on the button. I really do not want to have to sell but I'm preparing for the worse....

its one of those things thats worh a lot to someone who really wants it I suppose, but I`d have thought £14k if it is top nick??

judging by the steady rising prices, plus its rarity, I would have thought closer to 16k.
If you do have to sell, and I wouldn't wish that on any Griff owner, it will be interesting to see what it fetches.
It seems their is a good demand from Europe for TVRs.

Blinking Eck fellas!! That has to be one of the rarest of Griffs and a bit of a legend of an engine to boot. Folks used to drool and go weak at the knees about the 444?cc motors!!

Surely it has to be priced up with the most desirable SE models, if the engine provenance can be proved (there was one that sounded like it had been rebuilt to a different spec ISTR?)

As the car is rather unique, I'm not surprised that suggested values have varied so much. In order to get a better idea of where the land lies with these cars, I had a chat with a well respected specialist in the South.

The upshot is that they confirmed that they would retail it at the £20k mark.

Interestingly, they only knew of one other genuine 4.5BV car and that's in Jersey. Anyone know who it belongs to?

I would agree with this valuation, probably the best griff around !! another 4.5BV on Guernsey owned by Steve Beresford. Don't know the owners, but I think there are at least a couple more that have bought bits from me.

Ah, I may have got the islands mixed up and it may well have been Guernsey, not Jersey. Tim, you probably sold a lot of stuff to the previous owner of my car as it has a lot of ACT stuff on it. It was previously owned by Roger Skinner in Northampton.

You're right about the power figures, as mine made 330bhp with one of your tripple plenum set ups plus a few other tweaks.

Would've been better asking them what they would pay for it, not what they would sell it at. I've a feeling it will be nearer the Quinny/Clive figures

Personally I think that there are more genuine cars out there than first thought, as friends and contacts of Mr Wheeler could get almost anything built during this period of TVR (eg 4.3 and 5.0 V8Ss), but all the same it will be a special and rare car.

All of the figures appear to be the same to me: £14K generally, if you're prepared to wait a while for a sale then maybe £15K, or on a good day with someone who's specifically looking for a 4.5BV £16K. Retail £20K to start less £2K negotiating margin/discount if it doesn't sell, less £4.5K that all garages seem to need to clear means that they'd offer £13.5K trade, maybe less if you want them to make it a firm offer.
