For 5 points

At 6000 Rpm how many CFM of air does a 5.2 rover v8 engine breath in ?

It depends...

If I assume 100% volumetric efficiency I think it's about 0.26 m^3/sec. I'll let you do the conversion to CFM.

It's chucking it down with rain and I feel bored so here's my offering............

At 6000rpm the engine breathes in 3000 times per minute. 5.2 litres =.18363 cubic feet (according to Google). Therefore 3000 x .18363 = 550.89 cubic feet/min. This assumes 100% efficiency and also that a small proportion of the 550 cubic feet is fuel.

I'm sure someone will let me know if this is wrong.

It’s a surprising amount isn’t it, particularly when you consider it all has to go up that thin wiggly pipe over the rad and down under the bonnet.

Steve, this is exactly why you need a plenum insulating plate. It will make so much difference to that air intake temp . . .

hehe

May help slightly I suppose for people that are still using one of those funny old aluminium plenums.

Yes we all know about your extra plumbing, no thin wiggly pipes under your bonnet! Thing is what does all that extra metalwork weigh ?

When Ive been testing AFM's Ive plugged a 2.2kw garden vac' into one, and gets to about 4.5 volts when a TVR 5 ltr will reach 5volts. Puts it into perspective when you consider what a gale those things produce.
