Valley Gasket trimming

I'm about to fit a new valley gasket and although I haven't checked it yet, I'm assuming it will need trimming around the inlet ports. the one I have is black but I think it has a tin layer in the middle. So, what is the best thing to trim it with? I little grinding wheel on a Dremil ?

Trimming to port shape is different tho that thread Johnno we have posted a thread in the past somewhere..

I use some very small wire cutters and nail clippers after marking up (blue & scalpel is my preference - but getting the underside is tricky I have templates for my versions ). Guess it depends on your porting and how much effort you want to go to....

Mmmm - I definitely don't have any suitable cutters. I'll have a play with the old one before I start, just to be on the safe side.

Heavy duty nailclippers will just about cope; think old man's toes (or hobbits)

Just don't go letting the wife try a manicure after you're finished...

Interesting...... I've just put the valley gasket (from V8D) in place and it actually seems to be a very good fit. I was expecting to have to trip quite a bit off all the ports but it doesn't look like any trimming will be required (or very little anyway).

I just assumed they would all be standard and obviously not. Anyway, it was nice to find something that was LESS effort than expected rather than more so I thought I'd share my good news
