Can any one help?
I have a pre serp 1995 5.0 litre.
My car has always been running 'lumpy' at low speeds, however, last Autumn just before winter storage, my rev counter started playing up, sometimes working as normal, other times barely any life staying around 5 thousand revs when the car was running as normal through the gears. Took the car out a few times this week after winter storage, not only is the rev counter again working 'now and again' when it feels like it, but NOW I have lost my digital mileometer. Every time I restart the car it sets its self back to zero and just records the miles of that trip instead of the cars 'total reading'. When the rev counter is 'dickie,' I have also noticed the car is more likely to stall and the orange light comes on when I am stationery or driving at crawl speed such as traffic jams.
Could this be anything to do with running 'lumpy' as I certainly notice a difference. When the rev counter is working fine the car idles better and runs better at lower speeds. Now is this an electrical problem? Is this something to do with the ECU? Can it be a dodgy wire connecting to the dials? Where do I begin to look? Any ideas - gratefully received. Many thanks

Mileometer is probably the 'watch' battery in the gauge needs replacing.
Orange light is most likely the oil needs changing for a better brand. Check for sure if its your oil warning or battery light - when it happens correlate with the oil pressure gauge and/or pull the spade connector off the alternator and the charge light will go out (with ign on).
Tacho needs servicing - signal is fine as this is also supplied to the ECU and the engine wouldn't run without it. It may be creating noise on the signal to the ECU so the ECU isn't exactly sure how fast the engine spinning to account for your 'rougher running'.
