Griff 500 Exhaust options

My Griff 500 has cracked at the flexible pipe and the manifold gaskets need replacing. At the moment everything is standard (including precats).

So what are my options for fixing the system?

There's the option of just replacing the flexible section and replacing the manifold gaskets or going for a complete replacement system including new manifolds.

If you drop the exhaust system and take it to a reasonably competent exhaust building place they will have the flexible bit in stock and will replace it. Seem to recall it was less than fifty quid when I had mine done a couple of years ago.

Whatever you do with the manifolds get some proper bolts with smaller heads when you put them back. The ARP ones seem to do the job fairly well.

I have the ACT cherrybomb with the pre-cats removed, the sound is great not too loud and a great TVR burble. It had a straight through on it before which was very loud and a little harsh.
Depending on your budget you have loads of options depending on what you want.
1 origional nice Burble not so loud
2 origional y peice pre- cat removed + ACT Cherrybomb Loud nice burble
3 origional y peice pre- cat removed + Straight through very loud (bit tractorish)
4 Full decat straight through earplugs required loud

Plus a whole host of other options, you can also mix and match to get it just how you want it.

Have a listen to other peoples and see which you like best.

Don't want the exhaust too loud (don't want to upset the neighbours too much)

Yes already drooled over those babies. Unfortunately I want to retain a main cat for now.

I've got the ACT pipes and they are very nice. My only comment would be that if you are going for looks, they really need polishing because the manufacturing process does leave them with a few marks. However, once polished, they look really good. It's nice to get rid of those stupid clamps that hold the standard cat on as well.

If you go this route let me know and i will look out the name of the company that supplied the exhausts to TVR.i got them to make a flexible section for me,great company to deal with,
