Diff will work fine, but you have no lsd function overhaul is relatively cheap (around £160 ish) if you remove it yourself.Bluebottle said:

Please tell me where
I have two spare GKN units, if I can get them overhauled for that cost I'll be well chuffed !Roy
Send it to CTS and have it rebuilt. The LSD bits are normally pretty reliable, but bearing failures are far more common AIUI. Having the bearings replaced and preload set will cost you more than quoted though I believe.
Spinning the wheels by hand probably doesn't exceed the preload, I'm not convinced there is anything wrong TBH. You should probably have a chat with Bernie (CTS), Dave Porter or the like anyway, particularly if you are going to put that monster motor in front of it

Exactly right spend.
I had this a few years back (a stuffed diff) and when replaced I could still spin the wheels on the new one. This concerned me but I was assured it was OK. Works fine on track even now. Also had a trickdiff (GKN) where you couldn't, but that was practically welded up. not normal.
Your diff probably is Ok
Andy
As I previously said I have two spares. One came out of my car which was groaning, the other came out of a scrapped Chimaera so the condition unfortunately is unknown. Be happy to part with one at reasonable cost, could give someone the chance to get it re-cond to minimise off road time.
