Ooh That's Stiff

Hi all,

Is it just an added feature of my Griff, or are all caps on swirl pots f'ing impossible to take off unless you have access to heavy duty demolition equipment?

Going back into the garage now to find something bigger to hit it with.

No, you don't swing it, you just rest it in the cap and turn et voila, the cap comes undone easily

Variation on a theme..

I ended up using a wrecking pry bar, edge on to loosen the bloody thing

Now its, err, not so stiff. Hardly surprising at this time in the morning.

No, it isn't. I now keep a small Stilson wrench in the TVR tool kit for removing the swirl pot cap. And, for that matter, the coolant expansion tank cap (aka radiator cap) since I can't get that undone with my bare hands, either.

Two pence piece held in a pair of pliers for expansion tank once loosened the first time works for me. That way you can't over-tighten too.

So we have an axe, a wrecking bar and a monkey wrench. I think we've reached the pinnacle of Engineering finesse...

And now to take the doors off. Where did I leave my chainsaw?
