Remote Gear linkage

I think I am right in thinking there is a remote linkage on my pre-serp rover gearbox? The gear change appears quite stiff and I wondered if it could be from this. Is there any adjustment? Easy to get at and service?

Thanks very much Ian, my work computer blocks most links to image hosting websites so all I see at the moment are little red crosses but I'll go through it properly when I get home - new pivot ball & bush/ circlip should be arriving tomorrow

Good luck Rob.

One tip I wish I had before starting.
Get a nail or similar and bend it so it fits the circlip and holds it open. Fit the circlip with this in place then squash the nail shut to remove it from the circlip.

And a couple from me

1. Cover the bottom of the gearlever with a towel or something before lifting it out, or you'll be searching for the little spring and ballbearing - if it doesn't take your eye out as it exits.
2. You will need someone 'upstairs' holding everything in place while you fit the circlip.

Many thanks for the tips Ian, could have really done with the first one last night! Started having a look at the gear lever/ linkage and ended up with a gear lever in my hand and a 'ping' noise and now I don't have a spring or a ball bearing... and my car is parked on my gravel driveway I have a feeling it may take a while to find these bits! Bugger.

Some good news for you though, I thought there was a bearing in there but now I've looked at my pictures I got that wrong and mine just has a screw shoved in the end.

This might even be a bodge from a previous tinkerer who also suffered the same fate, so perhaps an idea for you.

You might just be looking for this - about 1" long.
