slow running

Hi everyone
The last couple of times i have been out in the griff it has started misbehaving as follows. From cold fires up straight away runs as it should but after using if i should stop for any reason like petrol station it starts as it should but ticks over really slow and driving in traffic becomes a real nightmare as evertime i pull up it will die. Restarts straight away but still ticking over slowly. Eventually after maybe 5 mins of traffic it will start ticking over properly again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried cleaning the stepper motor?

I would try that as a first step - if only to rule it out

I would check the base idle and also the ECU temp sensors

Depends what you mean by cleaned really, as muck gets on the keyway that runs down into the motor, so simply cleaning the cone does not stop it sticking. Try unscrewing the stepper to nearly the end of its thread and start the engine. It should rev much higher than normal for a few moments until the stepper motor winds the cone out to shut the airflow down. Then disconnect the stepper (engine still running) and then stop the engine, and remove the stepper. Hopefully the cone is now further out than normal, so you can get at the shaft behind the cone, and get the carbon off. Use a light silicon oil to lubricate the shaft and motor.
