There were at least two different ratios used. Can’t recall what they were. Currently I have the higher geared one in the car and the other one is in the shed, somewhere.

There should be a rusty metal tag attached that has the ratio stamped on it.

BTR is commonly 3.45:1, couple of other ratios available but weren't original fitment to Griffs/Chims AFIK.

Cheers is the BTR diff the later unit and other than mountings is it interchangeable with GKN as GKN parts are getting sparse would be better changing to BTR, and which in opinion is the better, more robust diff
cheers

3.33 GKN is a fine ratio IMHO, there was at least another shorter ratio used in the challenge Tuscans which come up from time to time, if you really want to know Dave Porter will know I guess.

Never really understood why a diff upgrade to a BTR would be so much of a problem but then again not something I would consider.. BTR's get upgraded to GKN internal specs anyway winkrofl

It's only the C&P that are unavailable for the GKN all other service parts are readily available. Because a lot of fools trashed the big molars by running with no oil / shagged bearings a myth seemed to develop about the durability maybe??? Plenty of us have bought spare diffs with good C&P's as an insurance, don't really recall anyone with sense having to resort to using them apart from rebuild convenience though?

Okay spend looking for C&P for GKN diff how much are you asking! for one of ya spares. and no not the dhead who runs with no oil always occasional clunk when warm and changing gear, so best to get rebuild on GKN if i can get C&P

I've only got 1 spare Jim, cost me the princely sum of £1 and it's tucked away safely greased up in case I ever need it hehe

If you are sure you've totaled yours I can give you a couple of folks who might help with a replacement.

Exactly Hamish - did they even bother changing the Tuscans to BTR's when AJPs were installed? - hell the RV8 Tuscan's must have been 400bhp+++ anyway.

No mines not trashed just clunking at certain times when hot and taking the pick up from drive, and however i feather the clutch in etc and no drive shafts feel okay and nothing loose so independent saying its probably wear on crown and pinion only way find out is to check backlash and go from there
