Windscreen rubber.

My windscreen rubber at the bottom of the screen has come away at the corner by the drivers door. I've secured it using a spot of glue from a glue gun one of the technicians had in work but I'm not convinced this will hold it permanently.

What is the correct glue to re stick the trim ? And am I right in thinking the rubber strip is just trim and not a seal (ie not water tight) as no water seems to get in at the bottom of the screen where the trim has come loose.

It is just a trim. mastic will stick it down forever,,,,& ever
