Fuel pipe problem/worry

Hi,
Parked my car up after a run, left for hour and returned to drive into the setting sun (drive to work really, but wanted it to sound glamourous)
Smelt petrol but didnt worry, turned key and fuel pump primed. Then a bloke tapped the window and said I was loosing water from front of car.
Turns out to be fuel. Had car looked at at my work place and the fuel pipe near injectors had come off.
Now the problem I have is that he metal pipe is not notched or anything, so there is nothng to hold the other pipe onto it. Should there be some sort of notch or lip to use as a stop for a circular clasp or something or is it just plain on them all ?
Sorry if this is silly question but im bloody useless when it gets technical.
Any help greatly appreciated.
