Griff 500 Race Car in classifield

Hi,

has anyone seen the above car advertised in the classifields for £19k?

I think the car looks stunning. Do you think owning a car like that would be troublesome, as an everyday car and not as a race car? It's had a hard life but then it's also been looked after and £££ has been spent on her.

Car No. 89? If so then it belongs to Andy Race (aka Guillotine on here).
It is a very well looked after, and rapid car (not that hard a life, you wont find any warn out bits on it ). Possibly a little hardcore as a daily drive but still perfectly useable on the road. Suspension and clutch can easily be softened up for regular road use tho.

What sort of difference would there be compared with a normal griff 500?

Apart from the obvious engine upgrades, suspension tweaks etc...

I'm sure Andy will be along in a bit to explain a bit about it, but I've had the pleasure of seeing it a fair bit at the races and it is a very well looked-after beast. Andy is very careful to keep on top of all maintenance of the car and as such I'm sure most of the parts on it will be in better condition than most Griffs for sale at the moment. I don't know the exact spec and wouldn't want to speculate but it will have a full cage, extingusher, HARD suspension and a very strong drivetrain.

It would be a cracking buy for anyone who wants to track/race a Griff and should still be competitive in class B in the Challenge.

What would be the negatives of owning this mainly as a road car with the odd trip the the ring or track?

I assume the ride would be quite harse. What the clutch be heavy in traffic etc...

Andy took me for a quick blast when I was down at Dulfords a couple of years ago.....**** me it was FAST.

Give Andy a call he'll be honest with you about the car but it is extreme for a road car.

Would love too but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get specialist insurance and for a car like that, that is a must.
I could get cover with kwik fit but wouldn't touch them with a barge poll.

my cerb was heavily modified and i just had it insured with classicline, with an agreed value with all mods declared. it was £380 pa for 5000 miles. Might be worth a try.

Andy is a good guy, the car will be spot on. I would have bought it if my budget had been higher

My insurance for the car is sub £500 with 5000miles and track use.

Yes it is very hardcore at the moment, but we will set it up for you.
We have 10 sets of springs from soft road to Aero race.
I can make it as hardcore or a soft as you want...it is still basically a road car.
It'll stay like that so I can race it if I want, and in case the next guy wants to race it.
Its also fresh for next season.

If you are interested, give me a call and we will get you out in it.

One thing we can't change, it is very fast. Faster than an Enzo to 60 (on slicks) and also most Race Class A race Tuscans if you've seen the race programs.

Its a specialist buy...it'll have to go to the right guy.

I've already tried getting insurance quotes (Flux, A Plan) but they wouldn't insure me due to lack of high performance rwd experience.

I went on compare the Market and the cheapest quote was for 2k bit that was with qwik fit. I looked them up and the responces was not that good.

I need to wait at least another year yet.

I do love the look of your car, and the performance sounds amazing.

Even if I could buy your car I wouldn't plan on racing. I would have it as my weekend car with trips into Europe now and again.

So not sure if I would be the right buyer for her unfortunatly. :-(
