Chipping a griff
Discussion
Sending out this email to ask if any of you guys and girls have chipped a 500 griff. My griff is a 1995 model and has worked flawlessly since I purchased it last may. But I would like a little more power. Any comments, problems or who does the best chip would be appreciated.Would like to have the work done over the next 2 months for this years track days
mark adams is the only guy to talk to for chipping. 500's run lean anyway so some straight gains and improved running can be acheived from chipping, but to make real gains you need to get more air in as well. this is where the twin plenums etc come in. tim lamont is the guy here, he can supply what you want for mark to chip.
you'll see about a 10% gain if you have both.
by the way...2 sheds is tim Lamont (aka act performance products)
mark does have a handle on here but not sure what it is, try searching on links mmembers etc.
e-mail me for his number if required.
top jobs from both guys

Isn't Mark's handle 'Mark Adams'?

Sorry Andy but I will have to disagree with you here. There is also Dave Porter (Porter Motorsport in Hinckley) to talk to, he's been tuning/racing the RV8 engine for years and also Dom at TVR Power. Both know a considerable amount about chipping.
Fair enough...the first I've heard of 'em though.
I'm sure that they are fine. can only go with my experience and others i know. read the websites of most rv8 specialists and they'll probably mention mark/tim.
don't rate TVR's mapping much having seen the improvements on MANY chipped cars. To be fair, they are labouring under a few other short comings
love the cars tho
all IMHO of course

I can only comment on the Mark Adams chip, but it's made a huge difference. I have a modified Tornado chip installed and the before and after experience is stunning. It's not so much the power increase (if any) it's more the increased torque and drivability of the engine. I can now drive the engine in fifth gear with only 1000 rpm. Not that that's the way to drive it, but the chip makes it possible. Before the Mark Adams chip the engine hated running below 2000 rpm. The chip also raises the rev limit to 6750 rpm, they say, I never run the engine above 5500, there's plenty of power to play with.
