T5 Gearbox

Hi What oil do you use in a T5 Gearbox.

Castrol SMX-S 75W-80

I know it says ATF on the side but its wrong

Most people on here us ATF ..Never filled mine but thats what its going to be though

Matt I remember a thread recently where you really rated this stuff. Im about to re-fill mine Im tempted to use this as your posted quoted some good points about this.

I've been bashing on about the use of atf in T5's for years and how its not very good gearbox oil basically so yes it probably was me.

Hi all,

Having just done a 12000 mile service and lobbed in some ATF!,

my question, is have any of the castrol users noticed a difference in the feel of the gear box ( either hot or cold) or is the use of castrol for longevity of gearbox inards over that offered by ATF?

I'm using Royal Purple Synchromax.

ferrari & porsche gear boxes are hard on selecting first gear,, ATF sorts this out,,, but dont take this as gospel, but i know it works
