modified Griff cover
Discussion
am just about to move renew my policy and after heavilly modding my Griff would like to know who uses who.
Trackday cover is a must and i would prefer a buy back option but this aint essential.
so to all you guys (and Gals? [in best jimmy saville voice]) with modified cars drop me a post so i know who's worth a quote.
currently with sunninghill, but they're worrying me with the way they are dealling at the mo...and the amount they want for the run out of my current policy!
cheers

Andy, I've had Grizzly insured with Peart for the last 3 years and they are fine. Easy to deal with, no probs' with track days etc. They once charged a £25 admin fee to alter the policy mid-term when I added some mods to the list but other than that they are quite happy with it all. I've got a limited mileage policy and full NCD living in Berkshire costs around £475 for 3,000 miles or £500 for 5,000 with the optioin to up the mileage mid policy. Rich...
just to let you know...
insurance has stayed with sunninghill brokers, though the company has moved to chaucer. no i've not heard of them either! underwitten by lloyds.
Royal Sun Alliance were no longer "Mod friendly" after being bitten several times over the last year. apparently some expensive claims on TVR's!!
but Arunn, a very nice young lad at sunninghill has done alot of leg work and found me some good cover, basically the same as sunninghil - including track use - for my modified griff. (see profile). track companies MUST be ATDO or the other organisation that i cant remember.
i wouldn't say he quoted me happy...but he certainly quoted me "not nearly as pissed off as i thought i'd be!"
considering the level of modification, i thought that a 15% increase VERY reasonable!

SHOULD be there, V8D are grinding me a new cam (not the 404H)which should be here for fitting later this week.
its all set up with Mark and Brian so i HOPE to be there.
Starmist, i also have some fettling to do so i think there may be a bit of shuffling around on what should turn out to be a good day. i have maserati bi-turbo injectors in which are bit too wet, and i hope to have a new set of bosch on site for fitting either here or at Mech.
not sure why they're doing a special cam for mine, they had no 404H's left and so the very nice Rob is doing one specially for my spec
should be good as i had 280bhp/280lbft with no lobes on me cam!
anyway...see you there (i hope) will be talking to Mark and Rob tomorrow to see if alls on track.
speaking of which, i'm at Oulton Park the following wednesday...so here's hoping it all goes to plan.
cheers
Tiny, i'll bring details with me
RichB, you coming up?

Rich,
I've currently got a 0900 slot booked with Mark although I might let Starmist go first as he plans to do 2 runs. The first one to quantify the results of his recent Takara mod and a second to see the gains from an ACT triple plenum/Tornado chip that he plans to fit on site following his first run.
Hope you can make it as I'd really like to see you car and it would certainly make an interesting group of highly modded Griffs!

I'm still okay. Had my delivery from Tim yesterday, V nice triple plenum and air box. Just hope we can get it all fitted okay during the day on Friday. I would also like to whip the injectors out and have the cleaned and matched. Silcone air filter to AFM should be going direct to Mech Repairs.
Do they do welding there, as my Y piece has sprung a leak on the weld. (Easy job to do in situ.)
