Oldham Road Lurker in Griff!
Discussion
Last night driving out of Manchester came up behind a lovely N-reg crimson Griff 500. He must've thought I was some loon, but he put the window down at the lights nonetheless and we managed to exchange a few words, so...
1) Whaddya mean you go on PH but haven't registered
Join in
you are missing out on a shed load of good times.
2) Nice looking car, sorry I sat on your rear quarter all the way up to the roundabout... but I don't often hear a 500 from the right end
3) Welcome - hope you read this.
I have also seen twice this week driving out of Manchester on the Oldham Road about 7.30am a green Griff, reg ending in WHX or similar... anyone here?

Thanks for getting my attention the other night - I probably wouldn't have got round to posting otherwise. I love the car to bits but didn't know how much care and attention they require!!!Do any of you meet up around the Manchester area? I could do with getting advice - cooling system - think I have a slow leak. How often should you have to top up the coolant on average? Or are they all individual characters

OK Lurkers out.
I live close to Oldham Road.
Saw a Yellow Chim week before last.
We are having a blat from the Trafford Centre this Sunday. Turn up, we do not bite! In fact we will inspect your car and force you to drive through tunnels.
Hope to meet soon.

And Grrrowwl Twice by the looks of it.
Coolant leaks
Could be a No. of things,
Loose Pipes, Trying running the system till hot and then check hoses etc Jubile clips may need a tighten.
Coolant Cap, The seal in this could be on its way out and when the pressure builds up can leak from here.
The Rad, As these are are Held very rigidly they are a little prone to leaks( sometimes at welds to where hoses join), Normally you find some in the spoiler below Grill, but loose Hoses also leak to here aswell.
Also have heared of some leaking at Heater Matrix(not Very common though FAIK ) This is in the passenger footwell.
Welcome to PH Proper

No... I was in the Peugeot... however, today is a different matter, roof down, hat on, top notch
OIY! BB, will you get my name right, it's burrianA ... or Enrique to your better half of course
Anyway - glad you found us Keir, don't worry about the girls rambling on, you'll get used to it
Like they said, there's a run out on Sunday in Manchester to play in the tunnels, though I'm not sure what cars are going.... next Sunday, 14th, there is probably going to be a run in Yorkshire which will be mainly TVRs and will involve quite a good run into either the Dales or the Pennines.
Keep your eye on the Yorkshire forum as we have a few runs that inc. both sides of the Pennines.
On the coolant front, I think it's each car to it's own. I have never had to top the coolant up and that includes 4000 miles down to Costa del Sol and back last August.
Hope to see you out and about.

Keir,
I had a leak which appeared to come from the corner of the radiator as I could see the drip through the mesh grill. Bought some radweld (£3.50) and hey presto leak gone - must have been marginal though.
Always worth trying the cheapest solutions first.
Hope it works.
FFG
I had a small leak on a the rad of a three litre Capri I used to own years ago, "Radweld" cured it a treat
