Glove box catch.......

I am now on my 3rd in 6 months, all the others have failed, snapped or whatever. I can see from some threads this is a common problem and I have tried to source from Mod-wise (as I understood they were a good alternative) but they are unavailable. Does anyone know where else I might get a good alternative from?

I found that if the tongue of the catch was riveted to the glove box it no longer came unstuck thereby allowing the body of the catch to be repeatedly ripped out which results in an ever increasing sized hole in the dash. I have solved the problem by removing the glove box. Passengers are appreciative of the extra knee space.

I only know where to get the standard ones from... If these units are the problem and not lasting as they should, then I don't know of any better alternative....
However my latch has lasted 11 years and 47K.... may be the ones that are failing have some issue with Alignment?

Mine has velcro keeping the lid up. It was done to the car when I bought it. I think whoever did it used araldite to stick the velcro to the lid and the dash underside. It certainly keeps the glovebox lid in place. In fact it can be bl00dy difficult to persuade it to drop.

One thing to note here... if the upper part keeps pulling in and out... You can get these bodys in 3 sizes to fit differant mounting thicknesses... I found this out when I bought one as a spare and then looked at another... so you must get the correct one for the thickness of the GRP in which it mounts otherwise the leg's will be held in and it won't clip into position and be held..
