HI all, I need a bit of advise regarding the above.

I bought back my 2000 plate Griff after regretfully selling it - the story is not worth going into now.
When I got it back I found that the above had been fitted. The car had only done 20k when sold and had only had 500 miles added to it when I got it back. So why would the work need to have been done as when it left me it was in perfect order with no signs of any impending issues. Now it is very 'lumpy' on the start from hot or cold and feeles like the idling speed needs raising by about 300rpm so you don't have to keep feathering the throttle to prevent a stall.
The work was carried out by The Works from west sussex - has anybody had any issues with these people before ? The car has the Mark Adams Tornado chip fitted and I
was thinking about getting this looked at as it seems as though it has not setup correctly after the work has beeen done. Does this seem like the right way to go.

Thanks for your help,

Wryka

Sounds like you just need to have the idle speed adjusted..

I have this cam.

Top end rebuild due to TVR putting heavy valve springs in wearing out the original cam and other components!!!! A common problem with the last 100 I'm told.

Mine has been maped 3 times and has the chip and is still a little lumpy but that is the characteristic of that cam (I'm told) in order to give more power! Does your car feel quicker/more powerful?

The other option is clean the stepper motor to see if this helps!

Not heard that before Reeso, what sort of mileage did you reach before a rebuild was needed ? What were the signs ?

The garage that did my work had heard of 2 or 3 before mine.
20k ish miles. Lots of pinking esp on full load at the middle to top of rev range .....and it only got to 186bhp on the rollers...they did not want to go any further for fear of killing the engine!
Whats your's done?

p.s...love the car mo jo

I'll try turning the idle speed up and see if this makes any difference.
Do you know how much extra power is added by using this cam ?

Cheers Reeso.
No signs really. It's running fine as far as I can tell, just wondered what to watch out for. It made 280bhp on the rollers last year at the growl, completely standard apart from smooth act induction pipes. I was advised it was running slightly lean at the top end which was costing me a few ponies.

Will be interested to see what it makes at this years Growl though as, time permitting it should have been fitted with a MA Tornado chip, 44mm carbon trumpets and modded base, 72mm plenum and Bosch 72mm AFM and fuel pressure regulator.

Just wanted to know what else I need to be paranoid about hehe

Mine has done 20k over ten years so not too much use.

Is this cam a direct replacement for the original giving the same HP as the original or is it one that should increase the hp.

Just trying to get to the bottom of it really

It was not a like for like cam. The 218 would be an upgrade and should increase the HP & torque if it has been set up right.

I'm not saying all Special Editions have/will have this problem, it's just a good few have and the reasons for the problem were the same!
