Looking for TVR Griffith right manifold with cat
Discussion
Hi everybody
I am a bit new on Pistonheads and a bit new in TVR world. I actually spent the 6 last months rebuilding a Griffith on 4 corners (suspension, wishbones, etc). But at the time of engine restart, I discover that the right manifold cat is probably blocked. It is glowing red at idle.
I thought about removing it but I also consider putting a replacement part.
May be some people have this kind of right manifold left (lovely one, isn't it?) at the back of the workshop. That would help a little frenchy trying hardly to deal in France with TVR problems...
Thanks for your answers.

I would check that you have not got a running problem on that bank before investing in another manifold. If the cat is glowing it could be due to a missfire, over fueling etc etc. The cat may still be ok once the issue is fixed.
Or you may just have a fuuuked cat, but worth investigating.

The car ran one hundred miles with the vacuum hose of the fuel pressure regulator disconnected (Unluckily the hose did just unplugged). It actually ran too rich for a while. I solved this and under any circumstance (even in default mode with unplugged lambda and AFM), the cat is glowing. Ignition seems OK as I have spark on all cylinders and engine is idling smoothly until the cat goes red. I strongly suspect that the cat is fuuuuuukkkkked.

I would recommend you remove the manifold and rip out the Cat (and the one on the opposite side).
Cars in the UK pass the MOT fine with just the main Cat in place - not 100% sure about France.
If your emissions are checked when the car is warm (which I guess they would be) then you should be okay. The pre-cats were in place to bring emissions in line when the car is warming up.
At a guess the pre-cats (like the carbon canister/purge valve) would have been design requirements to pass type approval.
