BEST TYRES FOR 500 GRIFF

Running a mix of Bridgestone fronts , which are getting low and Uniroyal rears on Std 1998 500 rims.
She tram lines terribly , perhaps ? due to 2 different brands of tyre . Any one got a recomendation for replacement tyres ?
I beleive that i am correct in saying that TVR Specified Bridgestones as OE Fitment ?

Thanks for the info guys, not heard much about Toyos and I was originaly thinking along the lines of Good Year Eagles , but i beleive they are Very Pricey ?
Did any one notice an improvement to the steering after changing tyre brands ? And did it improve/Eliminate Tram lineing ?
Wet weather grip is something i need to consider as well.

They tramline. It's the tyre width as much as anything else & you won't ever really escape it.
If you get Toyo T1-Rs, you will need to inflate them to higher pressures than the Bridgestones - the side walls are much softer, so if you use the old (TVR recommended) 22 front/ 24 rear pressures, the sidewalls will deform under acceleration & braking - makes the car squirm horribly. I add about an extra 3-4psi, ie 25/28.

With Goodyear Eagle F1 rears the fronts I tried were;
Dunlop SP9000 205's which made the car feel very skittish
Then came a pair off a PAS equiped 500 which were 225's - these were much better but heavy handling as the speed dropped.
I've recently changed to Toyo T1R's all round and its transformed the handling to what I've been searching for. Very planted but not heavy. I'll need some rears this year and will get Toyo's to match.. do I need R's or S's?
Definatly go for R's if going for Toyo's...... I borrowed a set of wheels with the S's on whilst my wheels were being refurbed, it was like driving a bouncy castle.I'll need some rears this year and will get Toyo's to match.. do I need R's or S's?

Think i have opened a can of worms here re tyres. Toyos sound a possibility, any one got Uniroyals all round ? I have these on the rear, they seem good in the dry and when the back steps out of line with a boot full, its easy to catch, but i nearly lost it in a Huge way in the wet last week.
A slight touch of throttle and she snapped sideways with no warning whatsoever. It was Very scary. If my reactions werent still fairly fast , i really dont think i would be here writeing this now. It hadnt rained for a while , so it may have been due to a build up of oil etc, but i am now very wary of driveing her in the damp/wet.

The inbetween tyre is the R1-R, apparently it is the same compound as the R888, but with more tread patterning. Or so I've heard. I'm stuck with some Cooper Zeons. Not amazing....
but at £500 for a full set of tyres replacing tyres that have around 8mm tread on them is just silly..Several years ago I put Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres on mine. IMHO, absolutely fantastic trackday tyres - great grip and feel, and felt like I had a suspension upgrade, due, I think, to the stiffer/better sidewall characteristics. Like the Toyo 888s not good in the wet, and I think a little worse in the damp. They are hard to get now, as Michelin no longer officially distribute them in UK.
The chaps over on the Lotus forums are saying great things about the Toyo R1-R, but I haven't heard anything re TVR.
