Apologies for the lack of progress. Anyone who has tried to organise an event of this size will know what I mean - I have been busy in the background(phone calls and e-mails)and won't bore you with details but nothing is yet finalised as there have been some hurdles to overcome with insurances and the like which have now been resolved.
Anyway, following the announcement of the Millennium Stadium event I need to canvas opinion on whether we should keep the event as a 2 day event or reduce it to 1. As the event is to be Griff focused I am posting here only to get some idea of your views before finalising arrangements. Please could you post asap as I need to get back to the club by this Friday lunchtime so the "heads up" advert can go into Sprint (April) and dates be added to the Club web site.

I havent read the details of the event as I didnt want to get jinx my progress into looking for a Griff!

So, I dont know what is involved yet but considering the distance Id have to travel Id be staying up there anyway. So for me/us it would be 2 days.

have you decided on a venue yet, i havn't read through all of the other thread, would be interested if its fairly central, manchester or something it a long way from scotland to anywhere much further south than that. think i would only go for the one day, although again if its manchester might tie it in with visiting friends and go for 2

The event will be at Gaydon (just off Junction 12 M40)with overnighting in Stratford or wherever you like locally (Warwick/Leamington/Birmingham etc) all within spitting distance.

FFG, any joy with my old man? We must have a burble around soon and get a venue sorted for the Gathering Saturday night.

FFG - 2 days or 1? Difficult. Decision probably needs to be made based on extra cost of 2 v 1 day?

2 days gives more chance for people who cannot make one or the other to attend, so likely to be more Griffs in total, but what is the extra cost?

If you want dealers, Sunday is likely to be better (for those who don't open on a Sunday), - would dealers come on Saturday AND Sunday?

Another thought is would people come further if it was 2 days - so attracting Scottish friends (say), whereas a long way for a day(having said that the last Growl got at least one from over 150 miles away - maybe more)

I'm rambling on a bit - just some thoughts...

My personal situation is not much help, as I am so local, I would probably come both days, unless it was wall to wall rain! (Not my car I'm worried about getting wet, but my new hairdo!)

Maggit,
Just spoke to your father - seeing him tomorrow.
Agree - I still vote Stratford as want to do a calvalcade. Will all depend on numbers.

No worries, we'll be there both days, and stopping overnight in the area. Shouldn't we have a bimble around and try and sort out a Hostelry for the gathering on Saturday night?

What date are you thinking of ??

I am j3 of the M40 so it doesn't matter to me either way although I would personally travel further for something if it were a 2 day event versus a single day ...

(although we did drive to Folembray for the PH trackday and home in the same day )

Have you ever tried to drive through Stratford centre in convoy ?? I don't think it'll be as much of a "cavalcade", more of a "gridlock",certainly if it's unofficial, it's a bit of a nightmare and then there's trying to find somewhere to park a couple of dozen (or more) Griffs, which will be worse. Myself and other members of the WarksTVR clan drove through Stratford on our way back from David Geralds' open day last September and we couldn't find anywhere to park up 5 cars, so we went to Leamington instead and this was in the autumn, not mid summer. I think you'll have to look at somewhere on the outskirts of Stratford to cater for a fair number of Griffs.

I second that! I work in Stratford. During the day, there is only one bigger time waster than driving into town, and that is trying to find a parking space. Frankly Leamington & Warwick are not much better on a week end from the parking point of view, if there are quite a few cars.

Please focus on the 1 or 2 day issue. The rest can be looked at later.

It's gotta be a two day event for me and a few others from the South West. By the time we collect other Griffs on the way up, it's gonna be afternoon by the time we get to Stratford/Leamington,where-ever, and then we're gonna want a beer or two! I don't care where we gather on Saturday night ,just as long as we mingle with other Griff pilots.I've already contacted the tourist board as per FFG's instructions who informed me that there were only a few venues that have suitable accommodation and car parking...zz

Me thinks a scouting trip as Maggit suggests would be a good idea. We can then be sure of secure/off road parking etc before confirming the o/night venue...

My vote, for what it's worth, is a two day event as originally planned - I'm a bit biased though as you'd expect!! Any more thoughts from anyone else?

FFG is driving me crazy with this every night now . I've been on a course for the last two days so haven't been getting my daily personal fix of PH and when I get home, FFG is stressing about the one or two days issue - so pleeeeeeeeaaaase give us your thoughts me old mateys!!!

(If only for my sanity )

Cheers
MrsFFG
