I replaced the stepper motor on my 500,now it will not start.the car was running o.k. before replacement.i would be most gratful for any help

Sounds odd, may need a bit more info to help as the stepper really just controls idle, it will fire up even with the stepper having issues, but may idle rough. When you say 'replaced stepper motor' do you mean just the motor bit that screws into back plate, or the motor and the backplate? What does it do when 'not starting'? I.e it at least turns over?

Put the old one back in.

Give us a bit more help switch234

What is happening when you turn the key?
Does the fuel pump prime
Does the engine spin over
Do the lights dip but the engine not turn

Have you checked anything
Fuses
Pump relay
Spark

Assume you've plugged the connector back in?

If its a cheap one off ebay they don't work - I struggled to get the V8S started with one of those and it would only run with loads of revs. I put the old one back in, didn't really work out why the new one screwed things up but it did.

Thanks for the help, sorry gave basic details, i replaced stepper motor because i stripped the threads when i was cleaning it.
The engine is turning over and sparking the fuel pump is priming, not checked the fuses or pump relay yet will do this, any idea what number fuses to look for.
The new stepper motor is from a tvr spare specialist
