Temp guage on zero ?

On my final leg back from Le Mans, the temp guage decided to sit at c60 deg and then on to 50 deg for the last 150 mile home.

Why would this be ?

Surely it couldn't be that cool or could the fact that my front splitter decided to divorce the car in France have anything to do with the flow of air in ?
