Demand for tacho signal converters for "Lucas free" Griffs?

I built a prototype tacho signal converter last year that replaces all the electronics in the standard rev counter. It's worked pretty well, giving me a more accurate rev counter that works on a +12v signal instead of needing high voltage from the coil and as a bonus it significantly reduced the "bouncy tacho" problem. You do need to open the tacho casing to fit it, but it may be easier and quicker to do this than to find a Cerb tacho in the right colour...

Would there be sufficient demand for a small production run of tacho signal converters for those of us who have replaced or are planning to replace the Lucas electronics?

You've certainly got a couple of Grifters that even I am aware of who have recently had their innards replaced by Caerbont to suit the ECU digital signal. Weighing up the options available the price didn't seem over the top when considering they effectively get a service & new 'working' parts at the same time?

ETB said they would do the same for the earlier tachos when I asked, but I guess you are referring only to the CAI dials?

There will still be a market to sell on your old 'black-box' tacho coil simulators to other RV8 fiddlers BTW

The solution works for all tachos, and isn't a "black box fiddler" type solution.

I haven't ever been particularly happy with certain Griff instrument servicers (for other reasons than this) which is why I found my own solution - even to the extent of fixing the non-linearity problem inherent in the coil.

The black box comment was aimed at all those that have bought / been sold them as part of coil pack upgrades..

More options the merrier I say, and can only be increasing numbers of owners going down this route. I use an Emerald piggy back module and it worked straight off with only the occasional spike being apparent.

Very timely.. I have all the electronic to look at doing this over the weekend (again as I have tried some of the MS/EDIS documented suggestions without luck)
