Am off to Spain and have a friend who is going to fit a Pioneer sat nav system for me. He needs to pick up speed impulse signal from speedometer, prob at ECU. Does anybody know pin number/ colour of wire. then do not have to take dash off. Thanks a lot.

I pass on my experience (knowledge is certainly not the right word)so you may not have to go thru the efforts that I did. The profesional bloke who fitted my unit found that using the ECU pulse was no good as it was too weak to split and neither the satnav nor rev counter worked. Following the advice of shpub I purchased a speed sensor from Racelogic.co.uk (£50 ish) They are aftermarket traction control systems specialists. They recommended that Performance Turbo Sytems in Luton fit it (01582 731 733) They do it while you wait in their reception (2 1/2 hours) (£135)They hand fabricate the sensor holder and fit it to the front nearside. The fitter tried to use the diff. cogged wheel but found there to be insufficient room. HOWEVER my satnav bloke say I now also need a little box called a GPRScas(I think)also available from Racelogic and other outlets. He is fitting it next week. It has taken almost 2 months to get this far so I hope this info makes the process less frustrating for you and others. Good luck mate!!

It can be done very easily, mine is. A magnet on the driveshaft and a "Hall Effect IC" strapped to the chassis. You can then select either a pos or neg signal.
