Help; Lights on... door open; no buzzer at driver side?

Good afternoon to you all!

Finally very nice weather for driving, so had a couple of trips and what a feeling great car, great sound, life is so good in a TVR but...

My first small issue as you can read in the tittle; when i open my door with lights on there was no buzzer-sound.

When i open the passenger side door i can hear the buzzer so something is not working on driver side?

Is this related with the doorswitch?

I don't think a buzzer was installed as standard.

I had the same issue on my Evo recently, neither door set off my lights warning or my key-in warning and didn't light up the courtesy lights either. More worryingly, if the door contacts didn't work, then the alarm wouldn't have gone off with an opening door.

I just removed the door switches, stripped them down and cleaned the contacts with electrical cleaner / wet and dry sandpaper. Worked fine afterwards.

I don't think a buzzer was standard on the car. If you have one installed you'll have to chase the wire back to see where the feed was taken.

Most likely culprit will be the door switches in the sill. It's worth cleaning these up, then wrapping in in insulation tape or suchlike.

so not standard the buzzer thing, was on the car when i bought her.
always a surprise with TVR haha!

so again welcome to the wonderful world of TVR motering and to be honest
i had to know that they sometimes do that but 3 years and no faults doesn't mean you can be surprised!?

It may be worth cleaning them up anyway as unless you have an internal movement sensor (ultrasound etc) on your alarm system, the door switches are the only way it knows someone is inside the car.

I could open my door without the alarm going off, not a good situation to be in.

The TVR system uses a Meta single zone microwave sensor to know whether or not someone is in the car, it is located under the transmission tunnel cover (middle of the cabin).

The buzzer that you hear, is it actually a buzzer? There's a chance you have a dodgy connection on that side and the 'buzzer' is actually a chattering relay. They sound pretty similar??

If not then indeed, I would say your door pins were covered in crap and need cleaning out. Takes about 5 minutes. Alternatively, there is a small rubber pad that should be stuck to the door where the pin should touch the door. If this pad has fallen off then the pin will not be long enough to be pushed in by the door so it won't work. In this case you'll need to pop down to Homebase and pick up a pack of small rubber pads (for sticking to the bottom of things that sit on glass tables), and superglue one of these to the door in the correct location. They're about £1 for 50 or so so not expensive.

well it is actually a buzzer, earlier installed not by me but previous owner.
so when you sit in the car with lights on and you open one of the doors the buzzer goes and i've read earlier it is not standard on the cars!?
the buzzer is located at (passengerside lhd car) behind trim just to side of the car behind accespannel central locking!?
but at this moment it works when you open on off the doors also driverside now so everything ok.
