After an excellent day on an airfield, I have some judder coming through the steering wheel, mostly at 70mph+, which wasn't there before.

Has my tracking or balance been affected or is this something more sinister?

Most likely to be an out of balance tyre, caused by the wear on the track day.

A cheap option is to go to Kwikfit and get the front wheels rebalanced. If this doesn't cure it I'd look for a bend rim. I wouldn't have thought tracking would cause a judder.

I'd agree with starmist.

I did have my tracking done last year (at RG ) and well worth doing it was. But I can't imagine that you're likely to have done much more than worn the black stuff down and this will have thrown the balance out. You'd normally not notice a gradual change but I know that it's possible to end up with a lot of brake dust and tyre tread in your car after a few minutes on an airfield!!!

im sure it would be your tyre's as well
my e36 m3 attained a large droning noise at around 40 mph upward's it sounded just like a rear wheel bearing droning but after a good inspection on my ramp at work it turned out to be the rear tyres had gone out of shape. to much sideways action, and were making the droning noise
new tyres sorted it.
if you still have a problem after checking your tyres out. check the propshaft joints and make sure they arent seized or have excessive play,
found this to be the cause of 70mph vibrations on many new s class mercedes at my work
but dont take this for granted always check the basic things first ie tyres, wheel bolts ,
