Griff under bonnet heat shield

Anyone know of anywhere still selling these - or is a case of having to make your own now cos mines completely knackered now ? I can only find ones for the Chimaera.

Austec sorted mine out some time ago. After a couple of failed attempts where the replacement shield peeled off they found the correct type of glue and made a really nice job of it. Several years later it's still attached.

Out of interest, if anybody needs to do repairs to any of the heat shield, you can get metal repair tape (I got it from Halfords). You can hardly tell it is there and so far, it has stayed in place. And I used it right next to the manifolds.

You can get sticky backed stuff which is very effective but quite thin. So you should be able to leave your existing heatshield in place as added protection, clean it thoroughly and stick this over the top. I redid my inner wing heatshields in this way and its been really effective, smartened it all up and you can't tell except you now can't see the rivet heads of the original heatshield.

The adhesive has been discussed quite a bit, I used a product called Fireseal which is a kind of silicone for very very high temps. But I believe others have used normal silicone to good effect.

I repaired mine 5 years ago using aluminium tape and glue - real Blue Peter stuff!!

Removed the shield, repaired with the tape and restuck.

5 years later it is still stuck strong. The aluminum tape actually gives a very good finish/repair and blends in quite well if rolled down at the edges.

No peeling of the tape or sign of the glue becoming unstuck.

'Car Builders Solutions High Temp Contact Adhesive' - about a tenner, and the aluminium tape for a fiver. Nice cheap repair.

They also do the aluminised ceramic cloth for about £30 per half metre, if you fancy making a new one.

Apologies for the plug for NF Autos (www.nfauto.co.uk) but to be honest I don't know where else you would get all the materials from in one place??

All done in a morning,tidy finish and still on two years later.
