New Swirl tank?

Morning.

I am considering replacing my swirl tank (500 serp - no temp sensor) as it is looking tired. Does anyone know if it is possible to purhcase a new swirl tank either in stainless steel or alloy.

Swirl pots and header tanks are not things you replace when they get grubby. www.thepolishingshop.co.uk sell 4 inch mops that you can fit to a normal bench grinder or 6in to a heavy duty grinder, and the various grades of polishing compound. Or your local garage must know someone who does this. Or put metal finishers into yell.com and find someone yourself. Buying a new one is the equivalent of getting a new car because the ashtray is full!

P.s. Beware, a freshly polished swirl pot looks lovely but you are standing at the top of a very long and slippery slope

Easy DIY job. Remove from car, rub down with fine wet'n dry paper + plenty of soap and water, then polish up with Brasso or any aluminium polish. Took me 11/2 hours and looks spot-on.

I have to say I didn't time it, but it was an easier job than I expected and certainly didn't take long. The damage I was removing was mainly salt corrosion, there were no deep gouges or major scratches.

Hi ok a chimaera owner asking brave question, anyone know were to get a nice alloy power steering fluid bottle? Been doing up engine bay and think the black plastic one is so cheap nasty looking.

quite expensive though. I believe they do a mathcing cap as well. I prefer the Leven alloy cap however.

I know the shame of it will run and hid after this. Will get on Trevor and buy with cap.
Have done all I can engine up grade etc so only just started engine bay wise. New rocker covers fitted finished silicone blue and now going up from there pics will come later.

Funny you should mention the rocker covers as I am looking at changing mine for one that match the ACT blue pipes. I really liked Kenny's ones in this thread:

Got mine done via Richard at Track v Road had them done more metallic like Red Bull colour blue to match my red bull tin cover on the coil oops now I really am going to get some stick.
But heh its looks cool

So it sounds like you have a very tidy engine bay asside from the Red Bull Can

Perhaps get one of these of these and chuck the red bull can out with the recycling

Its tidy, but not that tidy.

When engine was out last year the chassis was cleaned and painted up, the bay was cleaned and painted with new heat shelding put in. The new engine was clean and still is, so with new rocker covers its the business now and all the hoses and wiring needs covered over. I put the stainless ACT pipe and hoses on parts, but am putting stainless braid over a couple of other hoses.

So when I finish it will be great but I found this morning this and am now awaiting to see if they will ship to the UK or not http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/reservoir.html

at $159 its a lot cheaper than Trevor and the shipping should not be to bad, and you don't have to have the thing located on the engine, it can be else were so will see and let you know what happens.

I will post pic up soon, but it will be at Blackpool in September and I will be doing the Sprint.


That's the goal have here complete and clean and shiny by then.

Good luck with the PAS reservior whatever you decide to do. I am not sure if it is any interest to you but if you are looking at swapping the PAS reservior there is a member on here who sells upgraded PAS hoses which are very good acording to other members. I keep meaning to order myself a set as mine originals are weeping slightly.

yes ill be watching this, my swirl tank was all holed and corroded, finding a orignal replacement was nigh on impossible
