Lumpy, throaty and no full throttle

Difficult one to explain really.

Every now and then the car has all of a sudden gone VERY throaty and will not accelerate properly.
I have simply pulled over, turned off and left for a minute or so and restarted and the problem goes away.

Any ideas on the cause?
Is it piggy bank raiding time again??

Is your inlet pipe closing up?.. de-laminated inside may be?.. Or come off the spring former if it's the orig one and then getting sucked together? Or is it more than that?..

The long pipe that runs from the airfilter( near the radiator) to the airflow meter often breaks down internally causing a blockage. ACT produce a silicone replacement.

Mine did this and it was the stepper motor. Changed it and runs great again.

What sort of job is the stepper motor?
Would a normal garage be able to tell me that or does it need packed over to HHC again?!
