For the first time ever....

I went out to start the car this morning, to take it for a few mods and it's 6 k service.
Fired up first time as always, coughed, spluttered, backfired and cut out.
Checked under the bonnet for usual suspects, nothing seems wrong.
Now waiting for AA !!

I've had the main HT lead pop off before with the same result. Luckily, I didn't call the AA....

There seems to be a spark everywhere there should be, however just discovered the plugs are very wet, and stink of fuel !!
AA here in 5 minutes apparently. I've exhausted my mechanical knowledge and talents now

Sounds like you've flooded it. Leave it a hour and try again or maybe need to replace the plugs.
Should have been replaced at service or didn't you get there?

Didn't actually get there !!

All sorted now, the car is safely at it's intended destination (albeit arriving on a flat bed !! ).

Plenum and trumpets/base being removed to be sent to ACT as we speak. It will be getting some new 44mm carbon trumpets, new 71mm plenum, 72mm Bosch afm, Mark Adams Tornado chip, having its service done and the precats removed.

Looks like it was flooded but Johno you were also correct, it has a suspect rotor arm !!

Just like to ask, can anyone honestly say CF trumpets are any better than normal ones here?

Not sure, coming as part of a package from ACT. I'll find out on the rollers at the Growl I suppose.
Wont have time to set up on rollers with MA before hand though which is a shame. Thats something to look forward to when we get back from holidays in August. All I need to do now is pin him down to a date !!

If the rotor arm is suspect then the engine potentially will have added additional fuel to get it going which wouldn't fire etc etc . .

Most of the other likely suspects are electrical and they'll generally show symptoms before a start up, such as ignition amp, AFM or stepper motor.

Make sure if the rotor arm is replaced you get a genuine Lucas item and dizzy cap as well, generally the patent parts are pants . . will cause more issues in the long run. Or get sensible and ditch it all for a replacement ECU when you're having the other work done

Cheers Johno, it's in safe hands now and it appears it was just flooded. Replacing the rotor arm with a genuine part and anything else that is required will be done, rest assured

As for an alternative ecu, maybe I'll consider an emerald in the future, but for now I can't really justify it.
