Pre GROWL flight check, pilot error

Ok so, new clutch went in this week and while old cracked and badly welded exhaust replaced with ACT CB decided to go to Wales for a couple of days.

Went through some of the worst rain ever which make things...interesting. Anyway there is a section of dual carrage way that goes through 3 tunnels, windows down 2nd gear and quick blip nothing better, 3rd time round I had a micro second lapse and booted it in 2nd forgetting the wet road, back snapped out and slammed hard into the kerb. In a way was very lucky and thought I had got away scott free but soon realised there was a problem.

End result my passenger rear 16" esto is bent and gives a nice wobble, put spare on this morning and that runs true so no hub damage thank goodness.

So......I'm on a begging mission, can anyone loan me a 16" wheel at least for a week so I can at least do the growl, can transfer my tyre, a few pints to donor on Friday night goes without saying. I have a set of spiders that I was going fit over the winter so I'm sorted for the long run. I called a couple of alloy repair places and had totally different replys about it being fixed, one said no chance, one said how much money you got?

Feel free to throw the insults, I deserve em! lol

I think you can count yourself very lucky with just a damaged wheel and a lesson learned. Chalk this one up to experience then eh

Sorry I can't help with the wheel but I have a pair of part worn Goodyear Eagles if you've damaged the tyre too and need a short term solution before changing to spiders.

Depends how vain you are...... dare I mention it, pop in to chimp cage a borrow a complete set Imolas, a lot of them are changing their wheels.

be prepared for some ribbing though.

Oh god, cap in hand to the chimps. Will have to tell them Griffs are so awesome they rip the wheels apart some times when the feel like it! Thinking about it, I can do 400 miles on the space saver......ahem...lol.

Can't help with loaning the wheels either. My spares are 17" and have full slicks on them.

But I might be able to suggest somewhere that can work magic with wheel repairs:

I've just had my Impreza wheels repaired there and they made a superb job. The wheels now look better than they did when new, are all round again and the price was very reasonable too.

Thanks fella, I'll give em a call in the morning.

I get the feeling the main guys don't do wheels bent at the hub, but a little back street type place would give it a go, bet it's a bit of a black art getting wheels to run true again.

LOL, yeah got back ok thanks, was not to bad under 70. Good job wheel was like that or I would have probabily tried full tilt up and over the mountain!

Hope your back on the road soon, nothing worse than having to wait to get out in the summer.

On topic, I've had no luck with loan and even missed the full set listed on here, anyone got any ideas? there are no ford 16x7.5" wheels anywhere either as a temp fix. Obviously would buy one now, but there are none.

Also took wheel to repair place and confirmed no way to get straight.

Cheers Del, no need to call me a big rubber hammer, bad enough with Quinny throwing the insults!

I'm all for giving anything a go, but whacking it with a hammer would require the wheel bolted down so would need to "make" a free standing hub of some sort, might have a blast at some point.
