Use Silkolene Pro S (or is it R) 15/50 in both cars and they both show about 30 minimum and around 45+ when giving it some beans,

That will be the differnce in the serp and pre serp engines

Mine used to run 30 under load and 20 idle, after new pump its more 25 & 50, also oil level makes a difference when its at max its slightly higher.

Barreti what did you do to get your instrument bezels to look like that?

My oil pressure gauge reads the same at 'normal'.

Actually, the car came with them done, but I did the job with a replacement clock.

The black paint comes off with coarse wire wool, then its a case of sitting with fine wire wool and autosol - although I've just lately found the AutoGlym metal polish to be very good.

I've no idea what mine is mate, my gauge goes off the scale with a few revs on And at tickover on a warm motor its showing about 60 psi So I know its telling lies...
Always been the same so I'm used to it now...

I use Morris Oils 10w40 Semi Synthetic..

The 15 to 20 figure above, is what I would expect a healthy Motor to show, on an "acurate" gauge

serp engine 10-15psi on hot engine after a blast , 30psi at 2k and 38psi max
Thats with new oil pump, pressure spill valve press sensor new crank bearings etc

Thanks for that. I've got to sort my dash soon, flaking veneer, etc., and I like that 'classic' look with the polished bezels, I might give it a try. Do you get any reflection of them?

No, no reflections at all. You don't need to worry about a finish when you've taken the paint off either - in case you wondered about lacquer etc. I rarely polish the bezels but they look great all the time.

I understood these guages were anything but acurate - key point being ensuring the readings dont dramatically change from one run to another. I bought the snap on oil Pressure guage set (others no doubt available and have when hot:

Car Gauge
Tickover 14
1000rpm 20
2000rpm 30
3000rpm 40

Pressure Gauge
Tickover 26
1000rpm 29
2000rpm 50
3000rpm 52

Thats on a 50k serp.
