O/S Front Hub Needed

Before I go to the breakers I was wondering if anyone had an O/S Front hub for a 97 Griff. The bearings have gone in mine twice now in a space of 5k miles but only on this side so I guess the hub is foobar. Will pay a fair price plus postage unless your local to Leeds in which I could pick up.

I believe all you need is a hub from ABS serra. I would check price of new one from motor factors first. I bought one a few years ago and it was less than the postage

just checked for you.

Rally Design. £90 the pair brand new with bearings and wheel studs fitted. A lot better that rusty one you need to put new bearings in!

I don't think it is quite a straight swap is it?
Isn't the taper for the track rod end balljoint machined to a different spec for TVR's?

There was a thread on either the griff or Chim forum recently.

If the bearing was over torqued when it was fitted it can easily fail again that quickly!

No Sure about taper. sorry if Duff info. Im sure I changed one but it was 13 years ago!

Yes it was getting pretty noisy and hot but no problems.

Thanks for the heads up on these I have ordered them and will report back if they are a direct fit. I tried all the TVR dealers and none had any in stock. I also called a ford parts specialist who quoted me over £350 for just one side. I can get hold of a second hand unit from the breakers at around £80 plus vat plus delivery so thought it was worth the gamble to see if these will fit.

They are NOT a direct fit the lower ball joint tapered hole is to small. I contacted a couple of engineering firms to see if it could be retappered the correct size but no luck it would be to complicated and expensive to get the job done right.

Edited to add all sorted now I removed the stub axle and bearings from the new one and pressed them back into the old upright. everything seems nice and smooth so hopefully will last more than 2k miles.

I had the same problem - I fitted a new bearing and couldn't get it to run smoothly - took it apart again and had big scores around the races so had to get a second bearing - replaced again and it was fine. I never did work out what went wrong the first time.
