Rear Toe lock nut.

On my car the lock nut on the toe adjuster (the one that sits inside the wishbone not the thin one that sits outside) is slightly too far inboard to comfortably get a socket onto. Is there any reason why I should not fit a couple of washers or a spacer to bring it out a bit further ?

To fit a washer inside there it HAS to be smaller that the internals of the thread of the wishbone 23mm as this adjuster design has been used in this form since 1971 and historically DIY rebuilders have put a washer that locks out against the thread of the wishbone and this then acts like a hammer drill and punches the nut off the stud.

Been there and corrected this too many times ...M12 measure at 23.68 and do not drop down the internals of the wishbone, leaving an air gap which leaves the washer then to corrupt and leave the wishbone bush holder loose.

Got there in the end.

Turned up a stainless steel spacer that fits inside the thread and then realised that I do have a long thin 19mm socket, it lives on the wheel fitting torque wrench so problem solved, thank you.
