Bonnet Gas Struts

The 2 gas struts that support the bonnet need replacing:- all the gas has escaped and the bonnet falls closed.

I can get new gas struts locally, however they need to be gassed. The original ones (CAMLOC) have lost all the white writing: does anyone know how many KGs the struts are meant to support or the weight in KGs the struts should be gassed to?

I've just taken a look at mine and apart from the Camloc name and usual warning about do not open strut etc there is the following number;

6P1060098P 1019L-2095-23/94

dont know if any of this refers to the pressure?

Be intresting to know what the updated replacement part no is, as mine too have seen better days cosmetically.........

Bling version

Not cheap for the stainless version, but they do look much better when you've done the rest of the brackets and engine bay . .

Nothing, just a tidy up and clean......... no serious polishing.

Just the bonnet damper coating has come off and are rust coloured

Get them gassed to 150NM ... or 15KG... not too sure what that would be if you're still living in the imperial work..

my new ones were gassed to that.. and they work just like the old ones..

Related topic - looking to replace bonnet stay with something more robust. I have seen various mention of telescopic replacement or hydraulic replacement.
