Here's one for you..
My 97 Griff 500, has started to develope a flat spot/hesitation on acceleration. Of late, it has also been a bit grumpy starting in the morning. Basic symptoms are:
Turn the engine over, it fires up okay, but then runs rough and almost stalls, until you give it some revs and it settles down.
Then on firm/progressive acceleration, it pulls cleanly in 2nd or 3rd gears through to ~2500~3000 rpm, but then stutters, as though it's only got 7 cylinders, then figures out what its suposed to be doing at about 3500 rpm and pulls like a train again.

The battery is over 3 years old but has never let me down. I use the car most days for work. It's now got 47,000 on the clock.

Any advice gratefully received.

Steve

HT Leads?

I started this thread earlier www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=9&t=91292

Two years ago when I replaced them I had rough spots at around 1800, and about 3,600-4,200.

Now I am getting a rough area between idle and 2,000 and a little kick at about 4,200-4,400. Oh and it doesn't like idling too much either - very rough!

some TLC!! I had the vacuum advance pipe melt when it touched something hot last week (£2.67!) but it started to pink at high rpm. Check all the essentials, then take it somewhere!
