Fitting a charging socket.

Where would you fit a charging socket to save crawling in the footwell when you have a flat battery? I'm not a fan of the cigarette socket as it has pretty marginal cabling. I have some mini Anderson plugs and sockets, some inline fuses holders and some heat shrink and braided sheath, all I need is the ideal location to put it.

Part of me thinks fit it somewhere accessible from the outside in case of emergencies and part of me thinks just fit it high up in the footwell, possibly above the glovebox.

What do we reckon?

I have run my cable from the battery into the boot and simply plug in the charger and drop the lid. Easily accessible and can get at it in emergencies.

Fitted mine the the mouth at the front behind the n/s driving lamp...... easy access

The downside with the boot is you need power to get to it..... Mine lives in the garage with the roof off so the interior isn't a bad choice.

How have you found the nose for water ingress?

Cheeky, I like that I was considering having the gaiters sealed in when I eventually!! get around to doing the interior, but god knows when that'll be

You've got me thinking now, there's lots of space to hang one under the dash drivers side and no water up there to get in the way.

If it does get flat in the garage with the roof on (unlikely) I could soon jack her up and connect near the 100 amp fuse.

I've got loads of Aldi stuff, my charger came from there

I have an Anderson connector (as found on the later cars) fitted in the engine bay.

I have an Anderson connector cunningly hidden behind my rear number plate.

The socket for mine is inside the glove box. Power socket in the garage is on that side, so nice and convenient, and very tidy.

Mine runs along the passenger footwell/transmission tunnel and the plug is just under the passenger seat. The wire to the Accumate just gets shut either under the passenger door or above the passenger window if the covers not on. I've considered doing the same as you Quinny, just never got round to it. Somethind else always seems to take priority !!

I Put a spare lighter socket in the glove box, great for sat nav plug as you no longer need to remove from the door when you get out.
