Wont Be Drivein Griff For A While/ How did i Survive, RIP R1

How i survived this is anyones guess.....My Mint/Superb low miles 98 R.1 rests on top of the crash barriers , at the Upminster Junction of the A.127 .

I was travelling towards the A127 sat lunch time, when a Black Merc Saloon came round the bend on MY side of the road. I couldnt aviod her, she wasnt looking at the rd and i hit the Merc Head On.
The shock of the impact was undescribeable. They cut my Spidi leathers off me in the Ambulance and rushed me to Hosp.
Let me out late this a.noon.

Forget the bike, that can be replaced (if you really want to).

I had a similar thing but was in Hospital a tad longer.. spleen gone, arms / legs mangled etc etc....

Twoz a long time ago... about 25 years to be exact (bl**dy H*ll.. where did that go!)... but took 6 months to being okay.. . but as here, just thankfull for still being around!.. I hit a Maxi who pulled out, I was doing about 70 MPH.. the bike went thru his front end and pull his engine out 20 yards up the road... thankfully I cleared the lot and went flying for about 20 yards before hitting the ground and rolling / sliding a further 30!... I'd spent all winter doing the bike up so was a bit mad at what had happened so was going to know 7 bells out of the stupid sod who'd just pulled out on me.. It was at this point i realised my leg's would not work and bit's were hanging out of my side .. so that was that...
the guy put his hand up to it being his fault as he said he thought I'd stop ??!!..
But I still have a bike today.. Bandit 1200 with 145 BHP at the wheel...
We never learn do we..
Anyway,... just glad this one got away as well!!

Neutral - was just reading your thread on the Biker Banter forum, didnt know you had a Griff too! You were bloody lucky son, go get yourself a lottery ticket, bottle of brandy and some radox (and the number of a good lawyer).

Good to see you posting, it sounds horrific. Good luck in your recovery and hopefully see you back on a bikle or in the car soon

Hi Every bodys, thanks for all your replys and appologies for the delay in replying but had a pass word prob, and couldnt get on the site.

Ime pain killered up to the eye balls , but Still in a lot of pain and very spaced out, sure i have concussion and should still be in hosp, but they need the beds for far more serious patients.

I think i can vaguely understand how Roy Salvadory felt after being thrown through the Rear window ( yes rear ) of his E-Type roadster at Le Mans......

I had to get the Griff moved today from her Sat morn parking space , but just imposs for me to drive her as i am due to my neck ( in a brace ) right shoulder , back, ribs, chest, upper legs, etc.

Glad you are around to tell the story .. that was one luck accident. Sounds like you could have been much worse off.

Very frightening, good to see its just aches, pains and bruises rather than anything else. I hope you use the insurance industries add ons correctly and with your rehabilitation pay out put a turbo on your new R1.
