After my recent new master cylinder install I now need to refit the cover in the engine bay. What is the best sealant to use? Will black silicone do? Or does it need more heat resistance?
Did I read, somewhere on here, about a alternative method of covering the hole?
Silicone sealant is fine for the job. As the panel is held by self-tappers, put as little sealant on as it needs. That way it's easier to remove it again next time you need access.
I use foam rubber strip on the bodywork with sealant around the edges. Grease the surface and just screw the cover on. Means you can get it on & off without having to use sealant everytime.
