Boot size

Hi,

Excuse the random question, but does anyone know the dimensions of a Griffith's boot?

Also posted a thread in the General TVR section, but this is rather specific so I thought I'd ask here. One of the requirements for my next toy is to get a case that's 45x9x16 inches in the boot!

Hi Chris

I think it will fit but it will be tight in the Griff. Not sure it will fit in with the hard panel in there.

I measured the opening and at it's narrowest it is about 39" but you have a lot more width which you can use by dropping one end in first. The 16" depth is probably the tightest part which I think will fit without the hard top in there but doubtful with it in. The Surrey roof or possibly the split roof may help in this situation.

Best thing would be to find a local owner and give it a try. If you are ever around the Slough/Wokingham area you're welcome to try mine.

I agree with Colin, see if you can get it in someone's car. Try your local TVRCC maybe. If it doesnt fit then you will need to get a smaller case, god forbid you have to go for something designed by a dog called Ned over TVRs greatest creation

I purposefully avoided mentioning the C word. I'm actually open to the idea of either, but I knew the Griff would be the acid test boot-wise.

May see if I can lug it down to the next Ace meet. Sadly it's a massive baritone sax rather than the usual alto or tennor and most of the size is the instrument itself, with little opportunity to downsize the case!

Search for one of Johno's threads about his European tours to see what you can actually get into a Griff boot. You'll be surprised, especially if you invest in a split roof or Surrey roof.

I can guess the split roof is self explanatory - like the two targa panels on the S-Series - but what's the Surrey hood?
