Yeah use the clutch smile with over 420 lb/ft , mine with lock the rear wheels in any gear over 4k rpm unless u slip the clutch or ease off the throttle. Snapping the throttle shut at high rpms in a Tiv will always prevoke an unpleasant twitchy bum moment with the amount of torque these engines have.

Heel and toe. Uses more petrol, sounds the nuts. More impotantly, can ease the locking of rear wheels. But, it will never achieve world peace.

+1

Heel and toe is the only way you can brake and match engine revs. Loads of vids on youtube showing how it's done.

Lifting off mid corner or on the entry can case all sorts of problems, especially in a rear wheel drive car. The Roadcraft model covers this: keeping in high gear until you actually need to change for the manoeuver. Not much fun with the noise though.

But any lift off should be progressive and done smoothly. When on one of my driving courses one of the students habitually lifted off rather abruptly and our instructor took him onto a roundabout in the country and told him to lift off on the apex. The rear wheels lost traction and we spun.

Those days are long gone. H&S and all that, but he never lifted off suddenly again.

More likely variations in cam and engine mapping, they do seem to affect the cars characters dramatically.

Hi Guys and 5LITRE, its v.diff to explain, but say if ime giveing it the gas in say third, then lift off to slow down , my car has very heavy engine brakeing, you can really feel it slowing itself without touching the brakes, speed is shrugged off very quickly, my first one didnt do this anywhere near as much as this one, i had a Big "incident" shall we say in her a couple of houres before my R1 Smash last sat. And i beleive the Lift Off Contributed towards it ?

I Cant relate it on here, but if anyone wants to call or PM me ? i can explain...

One thing that will seriously effect this is the stepper motor, when shutting the throttle off it is meant to hang open untill the car is stationery, if it shuts completely this will certainly contribute to problems, and as spend has said mapping after market systems not set right etc...

It was always quite severe in something like the Griff as it was a light car with a chunky engine and an overwhelming desire to face the other way.

It is akin to pulling on the handbrake and it just isn't an action that is adviseable onany car like this. It will cause massive unsettling that will eventually catch you out.
