clear or smoked headlamp covers?

I am wondering whether to replace my smoked headlamp covers with clear ones. I can't believe smoked covers are as good as clear for letting light out! Anyone have an opinion?

And does anyone have a picture of a black Griff with clear covers & 7" headlamps?

Any improvement on lighting the road ahead is a bonus, even with my larger lights and std clear lenses any improvement is welcome. Smoked covers must limit the limited light available. IYSWIM

Exactly what I was thinking.

Trouble is that the smoked glass (fitted as standard) does look good on a black car...
