Sometimes, my (new) starter motor spins over slowly and seems to have trouble turning the engine over. The volts drop down to about 10VDC during this. Sometimes, it's fine. It always starts the car. The battery is 6 months old and the car is used frequently.

Also, the fans are now generating a noticable kick when they come in, causing the car to hesitate briefly when under light throttle.

I suspect an earth problem. Can someone please confirm which earth point the starter and fans use? Would this have been cleaned at the last service?

Ta,

Ian A.

The fans use the earth under the rad. The starter uses the engine. No they are not cleaned during a service because they are pigs to get to. Look in the bible and there are all the piccies and details.

Thanks Steve. I'll have a go at cleaning them.
