Bimmers broken so in for some TLC. Had to 'resort' to the Griff.
I haven't really used it for a couple of months apart from the odd half hour at the weekends. Started fine and was soon rumbling down to the Lamb for a swifty - only five miles. When I came out and restarted it I had to demist the windscreen but as it was idling one hell of a bang from the exhaust. Strange I thought - never done that before. A minute or so later another one equally loud - a few heads appeared in the window so decided to exit as soon as. As I got to the junction another couple of bangs, as I got onto the dual carriageway an almighty explosion, a whiff of petrol and all was well. Not heard a peep since (except the usual 'subtle' pops and bangs when coaxed ).
So what was that all about then? I mean, they were seriously loud bangs from what appeared to be the tail of the exhaust, not the usual guttural pops I'm used to.

Anyhoo, brought it to work today. Woke the beggars up.

Pity the poor bugger behind you,its one thing squidging a nice juicy bug on the windscreen but to be assaulted by two mice firing mortars from under a Griffiths rear end must be a completely different experience and mess !

sounds like its over-fuelled and ignited in the exhaust.

might have a problem with a plug, but most likely a sensor or an injector.

difficult to say from a distance.

Took mine for a 40 mile run on Sunday, absolutely lovely....

Wol did that on the Thunder Run. Over-fuelled to such a extent that when it did ignite, it left a black cloud out of the back big enough for a Chim to completely disappear in!

Replacing the coil and HT leads sorted it out.

Well I've done maybe 200 miles since and good as gold - must be just the short-term lay-up.
Brought it to work again today - a tad icy but no drama. Yet.
