Bloody Christmas Gremlins! No intruments!

Ok, took the Griff out for a pre Christmas run, first time in 6 weeks. All was good until I got stuck on the parent's drive. After much wheel spinning I got out, only to find that halfway down the road, my speedo is stuck and all other gauges are not working. Except the clock.

Any ideas?

Power, or signal from the ECU?

Am not a happy xmas bunny.

Fuse for the dash, IIRC it works the heater blower as well?

Sadly not. Heater works fine, all fueses look good. No boot release though...???

Does the boot release normally need the ignition on?
If so you have lost power off the green dash feed wire which is live with ignition on and feeds gauges etc , as Spend says, more than likely a fuse.

If not, dash out and start checking.

My guess is the boot release button is stuck in so the boot solenoid has melted and blown its fuse which also supplies the instruments.

Hmmmm... Sounds very likely as I can't shut the boot.

What's the best way to check all of these? Is there an inline fuse somewhere?

Exactly the same symptoms as I had about 6 weeks ago following refuelling, dash went completely dead!!. I didnt realise but the boot release button had become wedged behind the dash!!. Found the fuse for the dash instruments, which if I remember rightly is shared by the boot solenoid which was the cause of the prob. Changed the fuse and got the instrumentation working again. Solenoid was fried though so followed the advice of another thread on here and bought a solenoid from maplins. They do sell a 5 wire and a 2 wire solenoid, the 2 wire is all you need, problem solved. Hope it's that easy for you.
