removing the trumpet base

Ok - engine ancilliaries mostly stripped to pull out engine. want to remove trumpet base and fuel rails for rear access to bolts.

have removed 6 bolts from the trumpet base but it is masticked into place and will not budge. Have tapped sideways with hammer, tried gentle prising upwards with screwdriver but all to no avail. Is there as secret way or am I just being a numty? Can it slide sideways a little or is it sleeved and will only lift off vertically? Dont want to break it

Also does the fuel rail lift off complete with the injectors (as cerberas) or do the rails come off the top of the injectors (after removing those little metal clips) leaving the injectors in place in the heads? Again dont want to force anything

Dowelled onto the inlet manifold, so the only way is up as they say.

As Ant says.. the base is located on pegs.. so the only way is up... I've put a jack under mine before with a bit of pressure on and left if for a hour or two as I've used Hylamar in the past and they can be a sod to get off... Usualy does the trick....

The injectrors will come out either way... Last time I did mine, I removed them from the rail one side and pulled the other side out attached... that way your not side loading them trying to pull the lot up...

Hi Jez, whe refitting you should use the SC Power thermal gasket between the Inlet manifild and trumpet base. This gasket reduces heat tranfer to the induction tubes with obvious benefit, is self sealing and allows the trumpet base to be removed/replaced easily at any time without gluey stuff. Have had same problem removing the trumpet base when working on an engine where trumpet base is siliconed down, best way is to remove plenum, remove trumpet base bolts, bolt plenum on again and the knock the plenum with a rubber hammer. Base always come off easily.
