Hi all, as some of you allready know i'm currently doing a cpmplete rebuild on my Griff involving chassis mods, new LS engine & TKO gearbox and loads more, but i plan on posting pictures and updates as the project moves forward! Todays post was to see if anyone has overcome my current headache, i was replacing the Griff seats with some tamora ones only to find out that with the rollcage in place i cannot fit the seats into position and if i move the rollcage back i'm unable to close the roof, i've tried some alternative seats cerbera, tuscan etc but encounter the same problem so thought i'd throw it out there to see if anyone had any suggestions or experiance with the same problem??Thanks in advance! Forgot to mention the car will be track orientated so driver support is a major consideration.
I need to know what seats i'm using as currently trying to weld seat supports into chassis as opposed to just having seats bolted to the floor[ not that i'm a fatty or anything]

I seem to recall someone fitting Elise S1 seats with a cage. Maybe someone with a better memory will be along in a minute.

Good luck with the build, I look forward to following your project clap

My Griff has Tuscan seats and a freshly installed rollcage. It is custom built, though.

Looking forward to the future posts on the build.

Have you seen Onno's ground up Griff Resto project on the TVRCC forum...... very impressive indeed and an interesting read.

If your struggling for legroom i think you could move the pedals forward as some are adjustable.

Ive got some vauxhall vx 220 seats to go in my Chim, fit fine and very light weight. Also you can pump them up so very comfortable and supportive.

Had them resting in there fine but not fitted yet...maybe a thought...

Great sounding project smile

With apologies for going off topic slightly, could you share some images of your custom roll cage? I've struggled with finding a solution that doesn't come too close to my head but still gives full width protection. Thanks.

The last pic I posted is the most recent I've taken, earlier this week. We're right in the middle of this work, and the seats have not been installed yet.

But also, I'm not quite sure what you want to see. I'm visiting the car again coming Sunday, if you're specific about what you want to see I can take some shots.

Thanks for this.

Basically, there's been a lot of discussion on these pages how the "factory" roll cage sites extremely close to the driver's head for many people's seating position and might actually by a negative contribution to the occupant safety of the vehicle. I wondered whether you'd found an alternative to putting the vertical bar right next to the seat and headrest without moving it so far inboard as to reduce the effectiveness. Seeing the cage with the seat in position would show this. Cheers!

(PS: Not a TVRCC member so haven't seen your last pics I'm afraid!)

OK, not sure what's happening with the seats just yet - I'm pretty sure we haven't fixed the rails just yet so an accurate shot of where the seat is in relation to the hoop in it's final position. But I will see if I can take some pics that focus on that issue tomorrow. I am quite sure that the distance between the head rest and the roll hoop is larger than the original TVR Griffith roll cage. But I'm not sure and I'll put some objective research into it. Some may say that this is a bit late in the process and I guess you're right! But hey, we are all learning as we go on. All I can say is that the roll hoop looked quite far from the seat each time I've looked at the set-up so far.

Hi there,

Still currently doing chassis mods so cars not back at Topcats yet, but in terms of exhaust i had just bought an ACT cherry bomb system before i decided to go down the LS route, if i can butcher and utilize this system with the heads that Topcats have already made thats the first choice but might end up selling complete system and bespoke the whole lot£££, rebuilding the diff with different gearing but not finalized yet, drive shafts are going to be the gun barrel type with the prop shafts cut shorter new ends and re-balanced, with the brakes i've up-graded to a 320 mm disk and some lovely AP calipers emblazoned with the TVR logo had them out the box 4 times just to drool over them, hence needed bigger wheels front and back but still staggered in terms of size, went for five spoke compomotives sprayed black even though this restricted me on size as could only go to 18 on rear not 19 unless i went with the six spoke but did not like the look as much.
Will try and post a pick of seat problem but had a look at friends chim with same cage and Vx seats today, which are a wider seat at the top and his fit nice although he has removed the runners and made up some brackets to accomadate his six foot frame. Im off to sheffield in the morning to try and sort problem it may be a case of butchering seat backs and making look good with Dave at Automedon!
Please forgive grammar and any spelling mistakes.
