Why has this one not sold ?

Apologies if this has been covered on here before, but I keep coming across this Griff 500 on ebay. It doesn't seem particularly over-priced yet it's been up for sale for months and months now - any thoughts on why it hasn't sold ?

It does look a little dear for a pre-serp with no power steering although the mileage is good, but thats not always an indication of a good car. I think also the colour doesn't help it, dark greens are not everyones cup of tea. It looks like the battery has been put in the boot which will make it impossible to store the roof which is a negative and the company selling could have done a better of presentation when asking top price.

I went and looked at this one in Sept before I bought mine. Your right about presentation, it wasn't very well prepared, service history was ok but it hadn't really been looked after too well. The guy who owned it (apparently) was some sort of city slicker who had quite a few cars stored in a barn. He didnt use it for many years, bought something else to add to his collection and something had to go due to space.
I'm not saying it's not a good car, I just thought that it wasn't well presented and they wanted top dollar for it without offering much in the way of prep and service. I'm sure it will go this summer and make someone very happy.

As someone who is/will be selling a 94 Grif, I looked into values as thoroughly as I could to price mine. I'd say that ebay price is top wack for a 94. I considered doing a full refurbish of my chassis and full respray, and then asking that, but it would cost me the same as I make on the increased value, so I didn't bother. From what little I can see, the ebay chassis is not refurbished, but looks pretty good. Mileage is good, if it runs like it should at that mileage. For that kind of money I'd expect virtually no stone chips - possibly a nose respray just done. Personally, I'd consider no PAS a selling point - some of us prefer the better feel to comfort.

changing fuses is a doddle as well as all of the other points mentioned above 
Do you guys really consider 16.5k top dollar? I know Fernhurst is expensive but surely prices are creeping up everywhere? For such a low mileage car, it could be a fantastic buy even if you spend 1k on cleaning it up and servicing it.

At the end of the day we will see Griffs of all engine sizes increasing in value
Its all about supply and demand and as every year passes we will see more wrote off I'm sorry to say which will make them more and more scarce and as a result the price of these cars can only increase
Im convinced that the Griff represents a good investment as well as a fantastic car to own and drive.
So as far as an investment is concerned then i for one think its more than worth a punt

Given the 1st rule in the TVR buyer's handbook is to buy on condition and not mileage I suppose it's not entirely surprising why this one hasn't sold. However, given how much money very low mileage cars cost you would have thought someone would have bought it and given it a spruce up. Having said that it would still suffer the same problem as all low mileage TVRs in that their high value is only maintained as long as the mileage stays low which is a bit tricky if you drive them.

Got a bit of a way to go yet, but if Griff prices stay strong..... It'll be very helpful.....
The way I see it is that Griff prices are on the up, so the gap to an AMV8 is getting smaller.....
I just need to figure a way of filling the gap
....Certainly won't be this year....... But I'll be 50 in Feb 2012...... What a way to celebrate
